FAQ
What is the philosophy behind Lyra Learning Labs?
Our approach is rooted in the belief that learning is a shared journey. Inspired by the celestial Lyra constellation, we emphasize inclusivity, collective growth, and hands-on experiences to nurture each child’s unique potential.
Who can join Lyra Learning Labs?
Our program is designed for elementary-aged children and their siblings upon approval. We welcome families from all backgrounds and strive to create an inclusive, secular learning environment.
What is the age range for your programs?
Lyra Learning Labs serves children in elementary school—typically ages 5 to 12—ensuring age-appropriate, hands-on learning experiences. Siblings may be approved upon application.
What if my child is older or younger?
If your child is older or younger than our K-5 range, please fill out an interest form. We are looking to expand, but will need interest and leaders to do so!
When will we meet?
Monday Learning Lab: 9:30am - 12:30pm
Wednesday Discovery Day: Time Varies (1-3 hours)
Friday Learning Lab: 9:30am - 12:30pm
*Partial families will choose either Monday or Friday as their Learning Lab Day
Where will we meet?
Great question! That answer is TBD! We are searching for the perfect location in Sioux Falls and will get back to you when we know!
What calendar will we follow?
We will follow the Sioux Falls School District Calendar for start, end, and days off.
Do I stay with my child?
At the beginning of the school year, we ask that parents stay on-site each day to help build a strong, supportive community. As the year progresses, we’ll transition to an alternating schedule, ensuring that at least half of the parents are present each day while giving you the flexibility to choose your preferred days. You’re welcome to stay with your child whenever you like, but the alternating option will be available for those who prefer a change of pace.
How are field trips integrated into the curriculum?
Field trips (which we call “Discovery Days”) are a key component of our hands-on approach. They provide students with opportunities to explore local museums, parks, and community spaces, reinforcing lessons from our Learning Labs.
What does tuition cover?
Tuition will cover most fees associated with the enrolled child, including supply fees, Discovery Day entry fees. It will also cover the entry fees for one adult from each family.
How is tuition billed and what payment options are available?
Tuition is billed monthly. We offer flexible payment options, including online payment methods, and are happy to discuss any concerns or adjustments with families as needed.
Is this a full homeschool program?
Lyra is intended to be a supplement to your homeschool learning journey. We are not teaching the core subjects or making sure your child meets milestones. Our focus is on enriching the experience of homeschooling for your family.
